Early in 2021 I began my preparations for the move to Costa Rica by putting my house in Canada on the market. By the end of 2021 I had begun figuring out the necessary documentation that would hopefully one day lead to citizenship in Costa Rica. I don’t ever do anything halfway and it is quite possible that I may never realize that goal as it could take a dozen Years. Sometime last summer with my lawyers help I submitted an application for temporary residency. At that time I was given an appointment for March 21st 2023. I kept that appointment today and hopefully in the next year or so I will hear whether my application has been approved.

I have been working on my gardens for over a year and I am quite pleased with the way they are coming along. A month or so ago I had a large hedge ripped out and replanted the area with another garden. It gives me a much nicer view of the yard and the lake from my terraza.

As I have explained in the past, a beautiful brown dog started coming basically from the day of my arrival and she has been pretty much a daily visitor ever since. A couple of months ago, for the very first time, she jumped up on my chair with me on the Terraza and let me pet her. Earlier this month she went into heat and allowed me to bring her into my home. I did everything I could to keep her safe and comfortable and will be taking her shortly to be spayed and have a full health work up. Her name is Freeway.

Over the past few weeks Henry has done a beautiful job painting the outside of my house and my fence wall. I am absolutely delighted with the results. The house was off white with mustard trim, red roof and a gold fence wall. It is now a solid cleaner off white, green roof and slightly darker fence wall
I am blessed to have landed in one of the most beautiful places in the world.
